Privacy Policy

Mīharo is operated by Iconic Games Limited in Aotearoa New Zealand. This page explains what information we handle when you buy and play Mīharo: Escape the Arcade, and why.

Information we collect

We only handle the information needed to sell, deliver, and support the game:

  • Purchase details — the email address and name you provide at checkout, and a payment reference from Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
  • Room access details — the room code and password created for your purchase, and the room's expiry date.
  • Gameplay information — which role (Māui or Hinengaro) has been claimed in your room, progress through the levels, and a log of room events (such as when the room was created) used to keep the two players in sync and diagnose problems.
  • Support messages — anything you send us by email when you ask for help.
  • Technical information — our service providers keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and error messages) that help keep the service running and secure.

How we use it

  • Processing your purchase and creating your room
  • Emailing your room code and password after payment
  • Letting both players access the same room and saving your progress
  • Preventing the same role being claimed twice in one room
  • Answering support requests and resolving access problems
  • Diagnosing technical issues and keeping the service secure

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card information is entered on Stripe's secure checkout and handled by Stripe — it is not sent to or stored by Iconic Games. Stripe provides us with a payment reference and the email address and name you enter at checkout so we can create and deliver your room.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run Mīharo:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Supabase — the database and game services that store rooms, roles, and progress
  • Netlify — website hosting
  • Resend — sending your room access email

These providers may process data on servers outside New Zealand.

Cookies, analytics, and your browser

Mīharo does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or social media pixels.

The game stores a small amount of information in your own browser (local and session storage) — such as your room code, your chosen role, and progress markers — so you can refresh or reopen the game without losing your place. This stays on your device and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

How long we keep information

Room access lasts seven days from purchase, after which the room code and password stop working. We retain purchase and room records only for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain business records, resolve issues, and meet legal obligations.

Children and family play

Mīharo is recommended for ages 10 and over, with younger players supported by an adult or older sibling. The game does not ask players to create accounts or profiles. Purchasing and support communications should be handled by a parent, caregiver, kaiako, or other responsible adult where appropriate.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle, including using established providers and limiting what we collect in the first place. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to fix problems quickly if they arise.

Your rights and how to contact us

You can contact us at any time to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or raise a privacy concern. Email iconicgamesnz@gmail.com and we will respond as soon as we can.
